Christopher Street Day, the name given to pride celebrations held throughout Germany each year, boasts an attendance of half a million people at many events. This CD from Germany's Dance Street label is divided into 2 sections. The first 12 tracks are "The International Gay Pride Songs", filled with anthems recognizable worldwide. The last 7 tracks are devoted to "Christopher Street Day Community Hits From Germany", dance tracks from local German GLBT artists. Standouts include a great house remix of the Gloria Gaynor classic "I Am What I Am" which very fittingly launches the CD, plus Amber's solo version of "If You Could Read My Mind" that she made a hit originally as part of Stars On 54, and Michal Nicola's hit remake of Billy Ray Martin's "Your Loving Arms". Also features the debut single from the international all-gay boy band sensation, Marilyn's Boys. While most people won't recognize the 7 artists that make up the CD's local section, the tracks are surprisingly good, including "Seid Stolz!", a German version of the Village People classic "Go West", and "Das Ist Gut So", a remaking of the Village People's "YMCA"! Among the local tunes are the official theme songs for CSD Berlin and CSD 1999.
