We weren't sure what to expect. Many of these gay festival type compilations are filled with cheezy third-rate tracks. Fortunately, this collection commemorating Sydney Mardi Gras' annual parade down Oxford Street was much better than we anticipated with plenty of hits and songs that by all rights should be hits! There is a good diverse selection of dance styles, but all tracks have a positive, celebratory vibe that captures the Mardi Gras spirit. Included are awesome breezy vocal tracks from trance superstars like Tiesto, Ian Van Dahl, and Christopher Lawrence, fierce diva house from Inaya Day (on two tracks, including a great remix of her smash remake of "Nasty Girls"), Kylie's sister Dannii Minogue, and the return of Sandy B, plus plenty in-between. Stand-out tracks include a new version of the Blur/Pet Shop Boys hit "Boys & Girls" done by VanDalism, Mirabeau's clever update of the classic gay anthem "I Will Survive", here retitled "Back From Outta Space", the hilarious electroish "To The Club" by Spankox that should be the theme of any club addict, plus legendary Heaven DJ Wayne G's energetic collaboration with diva Shauna Jensen in "Everytime" that will have your hands in the air. A portion of the proceeds from this import collection go to benefit AIDS Trust of Australia.
